Quick Start #3 - Wrap-up

It's been a while since the previous guide that went through building a deck on a budget, and this portion of the Quick Start Guide will serve mainly as a wrap-up so we can move on to other topics. First, though, I went through 5 placement games with the FJS list from last time and added commentary. Apologies for the shoddy audio quality; my microphone was on the fritz.

Some of the main takeaways in no particular order:

Market Research - Time, Part 1 - Mono Time

Greetings all! Welcome back to Market Research, after quite a hiatus.

Today, and for some time yet, I will be analyzing cards from Time factions.

I could talk about Time cards for way longer than anyone should; I will make no secret of the fact that I play Time more than any other faction and I probably enjoy it more than any other faction. However, I do think that Time has a disproportionately high number of playable to powerful cards.

ECQ Price of Freedom - A Beginner's Experience

Hello everyone! As many of you know, this is my fifth week of Eternal. It has been quite the fun journey; one without an end point in sight. This past weekend I had the privilege of playing ECQ in front of ~900 people for my 28 games. While initially concerned about doing this without a delay; I believe having the community was the biggest win I could have asked for. Here are my thoughts leading up to and during the event.

Quick Start #2 - Making a Deck on a Budget

There are plenty of lists for budget aggro decks for new players. If you want to jam games quickly for not too much shiftstone, check out AhornDelfin's lists here: https://eternalwarcry.com/decks?dn=ultra%20budget&c=AhornDelfin. [Editor's note: You can also find a selection of extreme budget lists on our site.]

Market Research - Justice, Part 2 - Combrei, Argenport, and Hooru

Greetings all! Welcome back to Market Research.

In this installment, I would like to examine the multifaction Combrei, Argenport, and Hooru cards that one might fetch with one’s Winchest Merchant.

For a little bit of context, the decks in which I expect Winchest Merchant to be a realistic choice (for these three faction combinations) are various flavors of TJP including Alessi, Temporal Distortion, and Owls, as well as Combrei Midrange, Argenport Midrange, Hooru Fliers, JPS Scream, FTJ and FJP Icaria, Vodakhombo, and TJS/4F Visage.

Market Research - Justice, Part 1 - Mono Justice, Rakano

Welcome back to another installment of Market Research. Today I would like to talk about Winchest Merchant and Justice Markets. As for Winchest Merchant itself, the card has arguably the worst stat line of all the merchants (only Kerendon Merchant compares), as a 2/2 flier is just not much pressure or added value compared to Jennev or Auralian Merchant respectively. However, some decks demand high access to their Justice cards, making Winchest Merchant a situationally-strong pick.

Extreme Budget Deck Series

As a paid player who'd crafted complete sets of each card in the game, when Set 4 landed I faced the prospect of farming over 30 new rares (to say nothing of legendaries) just to keep my experiments viable enough to play in ranked. It was too much. While I'm sure many players have provided more financial support to DWD than I have, I've paid for easily a handful of at-release AAA titles and I'm the kind of person who waits for Steam sales.

Set 4: A Survey of Constructed Decks

Here’s a survey of what works in Ranked.

Two-Faction Combinations

Argenport

Right now, Argenport is more or less on vacation. Why? Because both Winchest and Kerendon Merchant are absolutely terrible for AP midrange’s up-tempo gameplan. Simply, 2 attack units for 3 that die to Torch are not where you want to be for a fairly up-tempo deck.

Tournament Metagame Breakdown—Week of August 13, 2018

The tournament format in Eternal is very complex, so I'll break it down and show you tournament deck composition for the past week.  We also have a few words about their decks from the tournament winners.
